About Me

I am an assistant professor in the School of Criminology and Justice Studies at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.  I have 10+ years experience leading and conducting multi-method research studies. My research identifies psychological, physiological, stress-related, and social risk factors for antisocial behavior, aggression, crime, and psychopathy.  I also examine the relationship between nutrition and mental health and behavior problems in children and young adults. My goal is to translate research findings into actionable solutions that improve lives.  I use a wide variety of methods, including surveys, experiments, physiological data collection, quantitative data analysis, and interviews.

My research has been cited over 950 times and in 2018 I was awarded the competitive Early Career Award from the American Society of Criminology's Division of Developmental and Life-Course Criminology.

I received my Ph.D. in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania and my M.Phil. in Criminology Research from the University of Cambridge, where I was a Gates Cambridge Scholar.
